Monterosso, the largest village in the Cinque Terre, has the best beaches and the most wine shops, artisan shops, hotels and restaurants. The lush vegetation, the beautiful beaches, the vertical cliffs and the crystalline water make this village one of the most inviting places in the Ligurian Riviera. The village is divided into two parts linked together by a long central promenade lined with seaside facilities. Monterosso’s main monument is the Church of San Giovanni Battista with a characteristic black and white striped gothic façade. The Church of San Francesco houses important works of art including the Crucifixion attributed to Van Dyck.  Finally a visit to the Church of Capuchin Father is recommended for the wonderful views over the village and the promontories which enclose the Cinque Terre.
