This is only a selection of the many events that take place every year in Turin and surrounding area.

February

The Ivrea Carnival
The historic Ivrea Carnival is the the world’s oldest Carnival which recalls true events happend in the middle ages between oppressing sovereigns and poor young women with the victory of the latter. A colourful festival with music and reenacting of the traditional orange battle and pyres making it one of the most suggestive carnivals in Italy.

May

Turin Book Fair
The Turin Book Fair taking place in May at the Lingotto Trade Fair centre covers all aspects of books from paper classics to electronic books as well as furnishing related to books and all aspects of printing and publishing.

September

September Music Festival
Music festival characterised by the variety of its appointments that are mainly of classical music crossing over to jazz, ethnic music and more. The quality of classical appointments is ensured by big names such as the Filarmonica Toscanini, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, The Wiener Philarmoniker directed by Pierre Boulez and the London Philarmonic Orchestra directed by Kurt Masur.

International Street Festival
A week of shows and events including workshops on the streets featuring  over 100 street artists from all over the world.

October

Turin Dance Festival
This festival aims to promote contemporary dance and features several representations including coreography and dance workshops.

Environmental Film Festival
This film festival has been going since 1998 and focuses on the environment including tv documentaries, anti pollution cartoons and films by famous directors such as De Seta, Flaherty and Quilici. The event features free screenings, workshops and seminars.
Salone del Gusto
Gastronomic event at the Lingotto Fairs centre featuring Piedmontese grown produce from over  121.000 agricultural companies.

National Cabaret Festival
Official Italian Cabaret festival.

November

Turin Film Festival
It is a meeting point for new international talent focusing mainly on young and up-coming artists.


December

Christmas Market
Starting at the beginning of December through to Christmas the market features over 100 Piedmontese expositors as well as a large number of stalls from other Italian regions. The market situated in piazza Bora offers all types of crafts and objects, lovely present ideas, Christmas decorations and a gastronomic section.
This lovely market makes a pleasant outing, where as well as wondering around the stalls you can enjoy the Christmas Gospels, puppet shows and performances by street artists.
